Deep City Lecture

Post by Kelsei A. Taylor »

Seems we've had an announcement about one of Mr. Barnes and the Guild of Archvisits' latest projects. This Sunday at 13:00 KI time.

I'll imagine that Watchers Pub will be quite filled up, though it seems they're planning in advance and have a live stream set to record for anyone who misses it. I may end up being one of them, alas. Hopefully I can make it though, this seems like it could be fun!

Very excited by this. I've been a follower of J.D's work ever since the days of the 2007 restoration. I've always hoped I'd get a chance to attend one of his lectures.

Going to need to move a few things around, but will definitely aim to be there if I can.

Not sure if I can make it either. I may have to reshuffle some things in my weekend schedule, and not sure I can get away with that. I may have to skip the AGM to compensate. We'll see.

While it's nice there'll be a recording/live stream, I hope someone will chatlog it as well, just in case. I honestly have no idea what exactly we're in for with this, given the last data dump we got from the DRC archives. Atleast we've gotten a heads up that its coming, this time :)

OOh, Drat. The AGM. I knew I was forgetting something this weekend. I have family related errands that day.

Sorry to hear that, Kels. This always seems to keep happening though, LOL.

Conversely, it's looking like I can make the AGM, but I'll have to bail out right after. We'll see how sunday goes, I guess.

A correction straight from the AGM itself, looks like the time for tomorrow's shindig is 15:00 not 13:00 KI time and the subject is the Mee-Dis war. Fascinating!

Thanks for asking my question to Mr. Buddell, Calum :)

Well! That was a fascinating glimpse at D'ni History and slightly terrifying parallel to real life in several regards. I can only hope that it's a lesson we can all learn from and avoid in the future.

Makes me wonder how different D'ni would have been had that King's little revolution succeeded. He very much sounds like a man out of time, comparatively.

Watched it over twitch stream. Utterly fascinating series of events there. And yeah, can't help but wonder how things could have gone in any number of ways. If the "Defense" failed or any other number of things...

Amazing how one man can change events all around.

To quote a certain video game, "The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world."

So many points in the Cavern's history that can be summarized like that, it feels like. The Mee-dis War definitely could have changed things in a completely different direction had it resolved with just a few changes. It's a shame that it's what set D'ni on its path of collapse. :|
